What characterizes the country's eCommerce industry? The Chamber of Electronic Economy is constantly studying both the behavior of Polish consumers and the direction of online stores. Recently, in cooperation with the Mobile Institute, the 8th edition of the report entitled: "Omni-commerce. I buy conveniently". What can we learn from reading the publication?
This is the first edition of the report in which as many as 100% of respondents said they have ever bought online. The reasons for the maximum increase in the number of people ordering online are certainly: frequent promotions, increasingly better return and delivery conditions, attractive prices, and the growing popularity of deferred payments. An extremely important role is also played by the development of omnichannel sales - as many as 73% of Internet users believe that it is important for a brand to be available on multiple channels simultaneously. Customers are more and more willing to use the possibility of placing an order on different devices. They are also eager to combine online shopping with their stationary counterpart (e.g., picking up a shipment at a store's showroom).
In addition, it is worth noting, among other things, that:
The Polish eCommerce industry is now facing a stable opportunity for growth and loyalty of its customers, according to the report. Customers are satisfied with the transformation that has taken place in eCommerce after the pandemic. Modern shopping solutions, better contact and innovations in payment and delivery methods are being positively received. Industry leaders are outdoing themselves in creating new solutions for their online stores. Innovative functionalities are especially common among representatives from the fashion industry. Google has also come out to meet the needs of customers buying fashion online. What is its idea based on?
Google developed its own Generative Artificial Intelligence model and on this basis created a virtual fitting room design. While there are already many solutions of this type on the market, this proposal stands out because of its technology, which Google calls "diffusion-based AI model." What lies at the heart of this innovation?
Google's model juxtaposes two images - a photo of the clothes and a photo of one of the selected silhouettes (selected based on photographs of people in sizes XXS-4XL representing different skin tones, body shapes, ethnicities and hair types). In this way, the algorithm is able to visualize how a particular type of clothing will fit on a particular body type - where kinks and bends will form, and where it will look too loose or tight.
The virtual fitting room will first be tested in the United States as part of an update to the Google Shopping service. It is possible that it will soon appear in Poland as well.
