AI also supports reCommerce

The concept of reCommerce has firmly established itself in the world of online sales - buyers are increasingly turning to "second-hand" products. The number of people, whether amateur (selling clothes lying in the closet, for example) or professional, listing used products for sale such as clothing, electronics, or furniture, is also growing. In response to this trend, the eBay marketplace announced the introduction of a new feature that will facilitate the process of selling used clothing for users through the use of artificial intelligence.

"Resell on eBay" is a solution through which sellers will be able to pre-fill the announcement with the appropriate information after scanning the QR code on the product label. The new tool was developed in collaboration with Certilogo, a company specialising in the identification and authentication of clothing products using artificial intelligence.

After scanning the QR code using the eBay app, the user will be automatically redirected to the product authenticity verification process by the Certilogo system. Once authentication is confirmed, eBay will automatically populate the sales form for the item, including key information such as brand, size, color, etc. This process saves time and effort that was previously required for manual data entry.

The first retail partner testing this feature will be the Italian brand Save The Duck. The service is planned to be expanded to other companies in the future, allowing even more eBay users to easily and efficiently use the platform to sell used clothing.

Walmart Realm: Online Shopping in Another Dimension

What do you think about online shopping that takes you to the Wild West or straight to a magical underwater world? Buyers on the Walmart network of online stores don't have to imagine this; they can experience it as part of the brand's latest project, Walmart Realm.

Walmart Realm is a virtual world that allows consumers to buy digital counterparts of selected products sold in the network's stores. Choosing a product in the virtual world adds it to the customer's basket. Purchases can then be made directly on the Walmart online store. What sets this solution apart, however, is that customers aren't reaching for products from virtual shelves but from abstract scenery. Walmart Realm introduces users to 3 different shopping experiences: the underwater ocean, the Wild West, and a metallic world resembling a cosmic scenery.

However, aesthetic experiences are not the only thing that may surprise Walmart Realm users. The platform also introduces gamification elements. Buyers can search for signs and exchange them for points to earn rewards.

Walmart Realm is another attempt by the company to reach a younger generation of customers. In 2022, the American giant created an online store in the metaverse in the game Roblox. Currently, the company is focusing on the development of Walmart Realm - in July 2024, the platform is set to be expanded with additional "storefronts" and collaboration with influencers. Virtual worlds will change cyclically, reflecting the latest trends and referencing different periods in the year, such as holidays in December.

Digital labels - experiment or future of eCommerce shipments?

Circular logistics is a concept that is increasingly appearing in discussions about eCommerce deliveries. In the industry, there is growing awareness that with the increasing popularity of online shopping, a solution is needed to reduce the surplus of single-use packaging. These efforts are supported by new regulations, including a European Union directive that sets new requirements for packaging.

In the wave of changes, companies in the eCommerce industry are competing to create solutions that will be more environmentally friendly while remaining convenient for customers. One such company is SwipBox, which recently presented a project for digital labels for reusable shipments. How does it work?

The Circuit digital label replaces traditional paper labels, eliminating the need for printing and disposal. Package information is displayed on an electronic screen, and data is updated in real-time at every stage of the supply chain. This solution saves resources and facilitates package identification and tracking, resulting in greater efficiency and fewer errors.

Currently, Circuit labels are being tested in Denmark as part of a pilot program involving the online drugstore BEAUTYCOS and logistics service provider dao.

SwipBox believes that digital labels are a breakthrough in the eCommerce industry. What do you think about it? You can find more information about the project here.
